"Escape RIG21" game icon. What do you think?

As you may know we are in production with the #RebelNature app #EscapeRIG21 and the time has come to make the game icon. Here is a snapshot of my screen right now. What do you think about this suggestion showing Res in the foreground and RIG21 in the back. Pretty simple but does it work? please comment.

  1. Seems to work in my opinion. My interest is already caught by the basic snapshot, and the icon says it all in a single glance. :)

  2. I think it looks great. The only thing that feels missing to me is the power icon from the main Rebel Nature logo, which I thought was really clever and communicated the basic premise of the story really artfully in a single abstract visual. It would be cool to see that in there somewhere, but as things stand adding it in might take away from something else, so I don't know.

  3. I've done some app icon design in my time, so I suppose it's my civic obligation to provide some input. First of all, the graphic is nice, and says all that needs to be said about the content of the app, although you may wish to consider that on smaller screens, such as an iPhone, the rig may have a hard time standing out without tweaking the contrast. The other thing that I wish to bring to your attention is the text, which doesn't always work on small screens, depending on the size of the font. In this case, I think you can keep the the "Escape RIG21" text, as it uses all the real estate on the bottom of the icon (although the "Escape" may need to be upsized), but the "COIL AUTOMATION" text and logo have to go, as on mobile screens, it won't be visible, and will surely appear as nothing but a blurry smudge if kept. That's just my ten cents, though. Anyways, hope this advice helps.

  4. I think that this icon is really cool! It reflects the main idea of the app. It's not overloaded with objects. It's simple, but effective.
