Urgent message in the shape of a bottle. This is my contribution to the global #Absolutecompetition where you can choose between the different beliefs that Absolut stands for. The one I chose is "Brands should act in a sustainable and transparent"
That combined with the iconic shape of the bottle and the urgent situation that is becoming common knowledge. A humpback whale caught in a area of clean water with the trash moving in. The oceans are filling up with our convenient single use plastic waste. There is not much clean water and time left before everyone from humans to big corporations have to change consumption and reuse of every possible material.

Nature Girl by Cryoshell. A cover version with a twist

Back in 1947 songwriter and poet Eden Ahbez composed this strange and mesmerising song. It has a the calmness of a lullaby and the melancholy of a ballad and it holds a banal but powerfull sentence that captures the core of human existence “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return”.
Here in the early 21th century the human civilisation is at a crucial point in time where we have the knowledge and technology to shape our future and make life on earth better for all. But at the same time the danger of not thinking ahead and go for short-term solutions and selfish greed is more present than ever. We have to take the concept of love and compassion and build it into every piece of technology we create.The mix between epic themes, storytelling and big emotions have always been the trademark of Cryoshell and from the very beginning back in 2006 Cryoshell has found inspiration in the clash between nature and technology. The robot on the beach in the early Bionicle legend is a good example and a good beginning. We humans have invented thinking machines and a world wide web connecting it all, but what influence will we have on the future of these creations. The coming album “Next to Machines” is inspired by this epic point in time where we cross over to the age of thinking and conscious machines.Now the message of “Nature boy” and “Nature girl” gets extremely relevant and what we teach the machines will be the key to survival. Love might be the most amazing invention and most important human survival skill.

I have always wanted to show my gratitude for all the years of passion, ideas, feedback and greatness that has filled the BZPower blog and community from the early days of the legend until today, and what better way than to do some creative work to show my appreciation.

This design is actually a suggestion for the BZPower, Mahri themed t-shirt competition that is currently running on the BZPower site.

This is an original tribute piece done exclusively for BZPower and the fans.

Exactly this point of the legend means a lot to me. The point where Matoro sweeps in, grabs the Mask of Life and takes the challenge and saves the day. The words are for all the fans who wear the t-shirt and keep the legend alive: “We’ll take it from here”. Especially at this point in time, the fans are the legend.

Go make your own lines on some infinite pure surface. Make your creative mark straight from your brain onto paper. Consuming impressions is the most sustainable joy available and drawing is the best way to use your impressions and pratice your curves:)
If you want to feel the rush and speed of creativity you need to give in to chance and gravity. Falling or flying, that is a question of opinion. If you aim high you need to go downwards in-between. Drawing is all about the right mix of curves and straight lines.

"You are what you draw and each drawing is an image of you".
DrawBoy is originally a title I gave myself when people asked what my job was at the advertising agency I used to work at. The name kind of grew on me because it describes the craft of drawing in it's purest form. This was and is the craft I love and it is my favourite meditation and expression.
So DrawBoy is my superhero and alter ego. He tries to catch as many impressions as possible, stack them in his memory and merge them into visuals and concepts. It all starts with the simple pencil and the white surface of the paper or whatever media you choose.
"So go chase those images and make them your own. Consuming and creating images are the most sustainable type of consumption you can imagine"

50%, 50% robot, 100% new evolved hermit crab

Deep beneath the waves of the ocean and Rig21, this strange creature scavenge for spareparts and energy. It is a mix of organic life and robot technology. The head of a deepsea robot reused by a mutated crab. In nature everything is reused, even the thrashed and replaced technology.

I you wonder what effect the plastic pollution of the oceans has on the marine life then meet this new mutated gadget wearing brittlestar, crawling up the metal leg of RIG21 in the Rebel Nature universe.
Sadly there is plenty of food for this new specie and it is just a taste of what is happening deeper down. This is not a "bad-guy" in the common sense. It is evolution mixed with human waste and technology.

Snow falls heavy around the rocky outpost in the middle of the ocean nicknamed Goodman Rock. The lights are on and we are planning that 2017 is going to be Rebel Epic on many accounts. A tribute to all the true heroes of Bionicle. You the fans!

"Mask of time" made from pure protodermis, lie waiting in the sand, waiting to be discovered. Waiting to give it's bearer the ultimate power. Even a Turaga who have seen it all will search for that. The power to change time. The power to create legends. It is right there, grab it and grab it now!

"The stories we hear and the stories we tell, shapes who we are and what we do". This is what I have learned from working with creative storytelling through almost 30 years and no story has proven this stronger than Bionicle. The fans was, is and will be the true heroes of a story that becomes a legend.


I made this piece of Bionicle fan art earlier this year, on request of the french fansite Bionifigs.com. It is a tribute celebrating their 10-years anniversary. At the same time it is a tribute to all who have been a part of this great adventure.
