Thought I'd let you in
on some sketch work for Rebel Nature. I've played around with the different
elements of the story and this seems to work so now it is just to add some
color. I will upload a rough when I get a little further. I know you don’t know
the story yet but does this wake your appetite? Any comments?, I would love to hear but I won’t promise
to follow themJ
I love this concept, it's very progressive compared to most action entertainment. The whole approach appears kinda bland and in-your-face, though. Maybe you shouldn't give it all away. While it's obvious that you brimming with great new ideas here, the overflow of information right from the beginning gives the big picture a certain flatness. I mean, the machines, the flying things, the octopus shape... everything needs explaining already, which makes it difficult to actually get into it.
ReplyDeleteThis poster is actually the introduction visual of Res Waveborn, the hero of the story. In this picture she is around her early teens and at this point in time she will take actions that will change her life forever. It is the point of no return and the elements in this picture all have big importance for this part of the story. All this just to say that I'm only scratching the surface of this universe. Hope you will like it when I put in some color and depth
DeleteI agree. When it comes to teaser posters, you need to be quite "minimalistic." Although you do say you don't know the story yet, so I suppose this is just a visual representation of the story ideas, not anything specific, just brainstorming, so I suppose it's fine to through a lot of stuff together. Besides that, I think the quality is spectacular. I am really excited to find out more about Rebel Nature!
ReplyDeleteYou are totally right, I love minimalistic and I'm also working on those kind of visuals for Rebel Nature but this poster is inspired by the early StarWars and Indiana Jones posters that have big character illustrations and key parts of the story in small illustrations in great composition. I love the story depth and anticipation that those posters hold.
DeleteIt definitely wakes my appetite, especially because the art-style has somewhat of a nostalgic feel to it. This poster really convinced me that I would love to get involved in the making of this project. I'm fairly good at designing logos and banners and I'm using a variety of programs to create the best looking results possible. About two years ago, a similar concept for a storyline came to my mind, so I would be able to help with the story as well, if you would want me to. I am also a big fan of BIONICLE, which is why becoming part of the team working on Rebel Nature would be like a dream coming true. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a poster, that I made recently: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/010/a/b/the_philosopher_s_stone_8k_by_toa_nuriamer-d71nf0x.png
Not to discourage you but one thing I have learned over the years is to create core story in the tightest group possible. To be together at the point of creation. As few people as possible go into a room and just disappear into the story and they only come out when things work and inspire both next part of the story and visuals. It is great to have input but just as inspiration. To me a good story is a subjective and personal view of the world and of events. When the basis of the story the main characters and the universe is fixed then anything can happen but it has to follow the basic rules of the story or break the rules in a very clever way. I'm still in "core creation mode". Hope you understand
DeleteHer armor looks like Toa Mata body. Oh, I see parallels with Bionicle in every art.
ReplyDeleteThe parallels are only in your imagination (Which is exactly where they should be:) know what they say, "you become the stories you tell and the stories become part of you" ohhh, that was deep
